Fate and Destiny for Sumerians
Ancient Sumerians made a great distinction between fate and destiny.
Fate was changeable was as subject of free choice. By being just by foĺowing moral comandments for example one could live longer. Fate was NAM.TAR a destiny that could be twisted and postponed (though not avoided).
Destiny NAM was not only predetermined it was also final and unavoidable as human mortality for example.
